What Dreaming of Being Pregnant Means
Dream interpretations had been a fond interest of mine and what better to post here & interpret than dreams of being pregnant, giving birth, and generally babies in one’s dreams.
Pregnancy
A new area of one’s potential or personality developing; a deepening relationship with one’s unconscious is producing a new area of experience–still unexpressed, but developing.
In a woman’s dream: may refer to a desire for a child.
If pregnant at the time of the dream: anxieties, feelings of intuition regarding pregnancy and birth.
Someone else pregnant in dream: an aspect of one’s self about to bring forth new characteristics; and intuition about that person.
Birth
General: When we are born, one world experience ended for us and another began. Birth in a dream has the same meaning. The beginning of a new way of life; new attitude; new ability; new project. But also the death of the old. Can be about our own physical birth, its difficulties and traumas. But most difficult being birth dreams are about coming to terms with our existence. Many of us are still wondering whether we wanted to be, or want to be born. Lots of us live at a remove from life because of this.
Woman’s dreams: desire to have a baby.
Man’s dream: envy of the creative ability of women.
Birth of a shining, talking of holy child: the beginning of awareness (not intellectual knowledge) of how the conscious self is interwoven with the forces of beings of the cosmos.
Birth pains: the creative process; pain of arriving at a wider vision. Giving birth to a more mature self is a struggle; the new in our life is born out of such pains.
Baby
General: One’s own feelings and urges at the level of development–such as possessiveness, joy, curiosity, innocent love, infant trauma; feelings of helplessness; vulnerability; lack of responsibility; being cared for. Also a new phase of life; a new idea; new activity.
When with a couple: the marriage–what is created in a relationship; the life process in us. Based on reproduction.
In a woman’s dream: desire for a baby; worries about having a healthy baby.
In a man’s dream: desire for parenthood; weight of responsibility; fear of inability to produce.
In a child’s dream: themselves at the age; feelings about a baby sibling.
